Pugsley's Piccolo Italia is a husband and wife run restaurant situated in the heart of Barnstaple opposite the river Taw. We have been in business since March 2007 and have already become a popular destination for lovers of Italian cuisine. Last year we were awarded 5 stars by the Food Standards Agency, which is the highest score that can be awarded for food hygiene and cleanliness.
My wife and I were married in northern Italy in 2006, in Scaligero castle, which you can see in a picture to the left. While we were there we fell in love with the food, culture and atmosphere, so we decided to bring some back to Devon. Hence the name of our restaurant Pugsley’s Piccolo Italia "Pugsley’s little Italy".
We freshly prepare absolutely everything from scratch and use the freshest ingredients, from locally sourced produce where possible, for the enjoyment of our loyal band of diners.
Our starters will have you changing your mind several times before arriving at a decision. The pizza menu sees classic favorites made from scratch. We also pride ourselves with serving the best and only homemade pizza in Barnstaple.
If you have a penchant for pasta, this section of the menu is brimming with choice. All sauces are served with a choice of tagliatelle, penne or gnocchi and topped with freshly shaved parmesan. We have a large vegetarian section and are more than happy to accommodate children or special dietary requirements. Just let us know!
Complete your Italian experience by diving into tiramisu or get seduced by authentic Italian ice creams of vanilla pod, chocolate, mint, pistachio & coffee, before relaxing with a liqueur coffee.
This summer we will be introducing al fresco dining on the newly pedestrianised Strand so it will feel far more "Lake Garda" than North Devon. So, whether eating inside or out, sit back, take in the sunset over the river and treat your taste buds to some Mediterranean delight.
And don't forget about our delivery service.
